Student Leadership & Service
“Scholars for Service”
The mission of CSF and CJSF is to recognize and encourage academic achievement and community service among middle and high school students in California.
Although community service is not a requirement of CSF and CJSF membership, members are encouraged to contribute to their communities through service. Community service activities build character, develop vital life skills, strengthen college and scholarship applications, and create connections with their local neighborhoods.
Community service and leadership count in assessments for awards available to CSF and CJSF members. Assessment criteria for the CSF Seymour Award and CJSF Huhn Award stresses those who best personify the CSF motto, “Scholars for Service.” Selections are made on the basis of character, leadership, and service. Student members must be nominated by their advisers for these awards.
The CSF Michelson Award and CJSF DiGiovanna Award are essay contest awards which focus on community service activities and writing skills. Student members are encouraged to submit their essays during the open period each fall. CSF Awards | CJSF Awards
