My mother, Margaret Martina Stuefloten, became a Life Member in 1936, graduating from Colusa High School, Colusa, California. She received outstanding marks and we are so proud to know that she’s a CSF Alumni.

Best regards, Julie Holland Looney, Margaret’s youngest daughter

Margaret was born December 29, 1917 in Santa Barbara, California, youngest of eight children.
She graduated from Colusa High School in1936 receiving a Certificate of Life Membership in the California Scholarship Federation, “by reason of her consistent and superior Scholarship and Service.”
After high school, Margaret began working at a bank in Colusa where she met Barney and married in 1937. Margaret and Barney had three daughters.

Margaret was active in the Arbuckle Methodist Church, was a 4-H leader, cooked for the family and many guests and events, sewed, made clothes for and refurbished dolls for those in need and worked at local rummage sales. Barney volunteered at the Arbuckle Fire Department for fifteen years retiring as Assistant Chief. Margaret actively assisted Barney with their business of contracting, rentals, building inspections, cabinet making and later owning a mobile park. She managed the books and rentals all while raising their family, running the household, helping in the community and at times working outside the home. Barney and Margaret were avid golfers and enjoyed traveling around the US, to British Columbia, Hawaii and Thailand and to visit their daughters and relatives.

Margaret’s 100th birthday was well celebrated with a packed house of family and friends. She lived a long and full life of almost 103 years!
