Chapter 239 – Sutter Union High School
Adviser Janet Finitzer

Emma Cucchi is the Vice President of her CSF Chapter at Sutter Union High School in Sutter California.  An avid Tennis player, Emma also spends a lot of her time working in FFA where she is active in both local and state wide activities.

“When Emma accepts a responsibility, you can be sure the job will be well done”, states Janet Finitzer, her CSF adviser.

“She has taken a wide variety of projects during her 4-H career and served numerous times as a club officer” says Gina Burke Tarke, her 4-H club leader,  “As Junior 4-H Camp Director, she took the lead of preparing activities for over 100 campers and the training of camp counselors. When planning these activities, Emma recognized that the campers were a range of ages, and she ensured that there were activities for all to enjoy and learn.”

One of the coolest projects Emma talked about was “A Night Full of Stars”, a prom for special needs students.  After being a date at a prom like this in a nearby community, she decided to lead a group of friends and create “A Night Full of Stars” in her own community.  Emma mentions that, “The excitement of our event was building and we were getting messages from people in the  community that wanted to help, as well as messages from special needs parents thanking us for  creating this type of event. We could tell that our Night Full of Stars Special Needs Prom was  going to be successful.” Sadly, after a lot of planning, the COVID pandemic dashed last year’s prom, but this has not stopped her from continuing to plan the next one.

Emma will finish her High School career by also earning her AA, plans to continue her studies in Computer Science, and will transfer to the University of Oregon this fall with 72 credits.
