Regine Santiago, 2020 CSF Seymour Award South Central Region Finalist

My name is Regine Santiago. I go to John Glenn High School, in Norwalk, California. At a young age, I strive to give back to my community and make a difference in this world. My passion for music has been an important factor in accomplishing this goal of mine. In the past four years, I have marched in numerous parades in hopes of entertaining people with the gift of music. One of my biggest accomplishments was being chosen as a participant in the Tournament of Roses Honor Band to march in the 2019 and 2020 Rose Parade. In addition to music, joining CSF has instilled within me the ability to lead others, to motivate my peers, and to use my voice to speak up and address certain issues that people refuse to tackle. Being a “Scholar for Service” has helped me gain confidence in my ability to create change. It has given me a sense of purpose in this world, and it has shed light on the fact that my career goal of becoming a nurse is in fact what I am meant to be!

Regine was nominated for this prestigious award by Chapter 757 Adviser Cynthia Johnson. Francisco Ramirez is Principal at John Glenn High School in the Norwalk La Mirada Unified School District.

Edem Sedor, 2020 CSF Seymour Award South Region Finalist

My name is Edem Sedor, I live in Menifee and have attended Heritage High School for the last 4 years. I am currently 17 years old and, like lots of teenagers my age, thoroughly enjoy playing video games. I wish to pursue a career in which I design characters for video games and have been applying myself in my community so that I may achieve this goal and much more. I can’t just be good at art to get further in life so I have participated in clubs like CSF, French Honor Society, Track and Field, and volunteered at my library. I plan to use this scholarship to help cover my cost for attending UCI, and graciously thank the California Scholarship Federation for giving me the opportunity and motivation to better myself in college.

Edem was nominated for this prestigious award by Chapter 1402 Adviser Courtney Ziani. Erika Tejeda is Principal at Heritage High School in the Perris Union High School District.
