Serena Ly is a senior at Foothill High School in Santa Ana. She is an exemplary student. Serena has been a member of the CSF since 2012 and currently holds the office of President. In her time with CSF, Serena has committed countless hours to community service. Outside of the CSF, Serena has participated and held offices in many clubs including the Young Investors Club, the Key Club, UNICEF, National Honor Society and others. Serena is also a valued member of her school’s tennis team and has received numerous awards and recognition for too many things to mention. But, like the other Seymour Finalists, there is much more to Serena than can be read as a list.
Serena is literate in three languages. Serena’s CSF Advisor says that Serena “displays a unique maturity, professionalism and dependability beyond her age.” Her Key Club Advisor has similar sentiments.
In Serena’s own words: “When I joined CSF, I erroneously saw community service as an obligation rather than a privilege.”
It has been her dedication to the service of others that has driven her into the medical field. Serena wants to be an obstetrician/ gynecologist, but that’s just for starters. She ultimately plans to go into Public Health and become the United States Surgeon General because she wants to “provide health services to people at risk and to unite our communities.”
Serena plans to take the first step toward her lofty goals this Fall by attending Yale University with a double major in Molecular Cell Development Biology and Political Science.
